About Me

For over 10 years I’ve helped my clients break through the obstacles that seem to be holding them back in life. I believe that everyone can find their true potential and live a fulfilled life despite their life circumstances. I help my clients learn and develop ways to handle the issues that are standing in the way of their goals. I help my clients develop a more compassionate way to understand and accept what they cannot change and focus on what they can change in order to live a life aligned with their true values. I love my work and I also value my personal life. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing with my dog, reading, painting, practicing mindfulness exercises, outdoor activities and traveling.

Support That Makes a Difference

There are several different therapeutic approaches available in counseling for different needs, some aimed at individuals and others aimed at couples, groups or families. I use an integrative approach, drawing from many different theories depending on the client's needs and goals, including:

  • Psychodynamic Theory - works well with deep-rooted problems from childhood that reflect on recurrent issues of the individual client's current life; 

  • Mindfulness-Based therapy;

  • Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) - helps move past obstacles in life, and identify personal values, strengths, and abilities to live a fulfilled life despite difficulties;

  • Attachment Theory;

  • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) - evokes feelings of belonging and affiliation and a sense of being cared for

  • Play Therapy - used primarily with children; and

  • Center Focused approach - a focus on the therapeutic relationship involving positive regard, genuineness, and empathy, which helps the development of positive self-esteem and self-confidence.

What to Expect

There is an initial assessment session where I will work with you to understand your goals and targets for therapy, and then consider the best therapeutic approach to meet your needs. I will explain how the therapeutic process works and answer any questions you may have. In addition to individual therapy, I also offer workshops that can help you develop a better understanding of how to use some of the therapeutic tools learned during individual sessions.
